AHL: Ritten loses the first semi-final game against Cortina

Ritten tackled the semi-finals with the best line-up, while Cortina had to make do without the suspended Nicola Fontanive (two rounds left) and the injured Ronny De Zanna. The home team got off to a good start and put pressure on the opponent's goal from the start. After a top-class chance from Cortina's Zak Torquato, who was outnumbered by Killeen in the 7th minute, the "Buam" scored their first goal shortly before the first period break. In the 18th minute, captain Christian Borgatello took a pass from Simon Kostner and Riccardo Lacedelli misdirected the puck into his own goal with his skate. For Borgatello it was already the eighth point scored in the fourth play-off game.

The game remained very even in the middle third. Dan Tudin and Thomas Spinell were unable to take advantage of two good chances for the home team, then the guests equalized to make it 1-1. In the 27th minute, Riley Brace, outnumbered (Alexander Eisath was in the penalty box), got through on the left side and played a wonderful pass into the middle, which Edoardo Caletti netted flatly into the far corner to equalize the score at 1-1.

In the final third, Cortina took the lead for the first time after two minutes with Alex Talamini. But the guests' joy only lasted 39 seconds. Markus Spinell reacted quickest to goalie Marco de Filippo Roia's rebound and made it 2-2. Eight minutes before the end of the game, Cortina was able to celebrate again. Riley Brace left Ivan Tauferer standing, stormed alone in front of Killeen and beat the Canadian goalkeeper between the leg pads to make it 3-2. Seven seconds before the final siren, Zak Torquato hit an empty net to make the final score 4-2.

AHL: Ritten loses the first semi-final game against Cortina

The Rittner Buam surprisingly lost the first playoff semi-final game against Cortina. The reigning Italian champions lost 900:2 on Saturday evening in the Arena Ritten in front of almost 4 spectators.
