Alexander Egger, how deep is the disappointment one day after leaving? Of course it's very tragic at first and you're disappointed. It always takes a while to process it all. Only then can you analyze the season in detail. Is it still enough for a quick analysis? Yes, and this is certainly positive. If you consider what the omens were before the season, how we were positioned in defense at the beginning, with all the deficiencies in the outnumbered and undernumbered game, the top 6 was already a great success. Even after that, we played well at times, but especially in the play-off series we couldn't add that certain something.

In terms of quality, the squad seemed to be better this year than last year... In terms of cohesion and unity, we certainly harmonized better this year than last year. I'm not sure whether the current team is better positioned in terms of quality than last season. The fact is that the loss of Brendan Bell has opened up a big hole in an already sparse defense. But we were always there. Looking at it soberly, I think that despite everything we met our expectations.

The play-off series against Linz was a constant up and down. What finally made the difference that it was over after game six? Several factors played a role. For example, we couldn't correct the mistakes, we sat in the penalty box too often, knowing that Linz had an excellent power play, and luck wasn't always on our side. We always had to make an enormous effort to score a goal, while Linz simply acted more callously in many scenes. There was a lot of talk and criticism about the performance of the referees in the play-off series. What do you think? After the performance of the referee team in the first game there was criticism, but in the following three games the referees were confident. I therefore don't understand the association's decision to go back to the team in the fifth game that caused controversy at the start. Of course, chaos was programmed from the start. In my opinion, there was a lack of tact and the game slipped more and more out of the referee's hands as time went on. But I don't want to blame them for the defeat.

What's next for you? I'll be taking a little break in the next few days so I can start preparing for the World Championships (end of April in Poland, editor's note).
