AlpsHL MVP: The most valuable player comes from Merano

On Friday it was announced that Calder Anderson was named MVP of the 2023/24 season. In addition to him, two other guest workers from South Tyrolean clubs made it into the top 3.

It was Calder Anderson's first season in the Alps Hockey League. The Canadian was promptly voted MVP of the 2023/24 season by the ice hockey journalists and was thus named the most important and valuable player. For the 21-year-old, it is the first individual award of his young career. The center recorded 44 points in 81 appearances against quarter-final debutants HC Meran. He is currently the top scorer for the 2023/24 season.

Calder Anderson was one of the reasons why a new ice hockey euphoria was sparked in Meran. The Canadian was on the top scorer list 33 times, once with a four-pack and also with two hat tricks. He also has the most assists of any player with 48 assists. With a +/- of +23, the left-handed shooter is also at the top in this statistic. Overall, Anderson was only unable to record a point in eight of 44 games. His longest point scoring streak was between December 2, 2023 and February 24, 2024, where the center scored in 18 straight games.

HC Meran played a very solid season. After the intermediate round, we went through the pre-play-offs (against EC Kitzbühel) to the quarter-finals, where it ended against old champions Cortina. Particularly bitter for the people of the spa town: 9 days ago it was announced that Calder Anderson will leave HCM. And with veteran Luca Ansoldi, Meran lost another important support (SportNews effect berichtet).
