Field service | Kostner's comeback is delayed

Diego Kostner has played just one game this season. The reason: a stubborn adductor injury. The 27-year-old actually wanted to make his comeback before the turn of the year, but nothing came of it: the man from Val Gardena had to go under the knife and will stay off the ice for another 6 to 8 weeks. This is a setback for Kostner himself, but also for the national team.

Bitter for Kostner: Ambri Piotta's medical team initially did not expect any serious injuries. The national player was only supposed to be out for 10 days, but it has now been over 3 months. The son of ex-Kaltern coach Thomas Kostner had himself examined by specialists from England, Switzerland and Spain, but the conservative treatment methods did not work, Ambri sports director Paolo Duca recently explained. The operation is intended to finally solve Kostner's adductor problem.

Bernard, the savior Andreas Bernard, on the other hand, is in perfect health and doesn't need any warm-up time at MAC Ujbuda: Ever since the South Tyrolean started guarding the goal for the Hungarians, things have been going smoothly. The club from Budapest had to accept a clear 2:6 home defeat against Nitra on Sunday, but before that they had strung together three wins (including one in the cup). Nevertheless, Ujbuda is in third-to-last place in the Slovakian Tipsport League.

The situation is similarly bad for Alex Trivellato and the Krefeld Penguins in the German DEL. Only 2 points separate the West Germans from bottom team Schwenningen. The Nuremberg Ice Tigers are also deep in crisis: without the injured Joachim Ramoser, Bayern have lost 9 of the last 10 games and have slipped to 11th place. Alex Lambacher is in 10th position with the Augsburg Panthers.
