Axel Kammerer remains coach at the Broncos

A little over two months ago, Axel Kammerer took over WSV Sterzing Broncos Weihenstephan. In these almost 70 days he was able to convince the wild horse board of directors of himself and his work. Because the traditional Wipptal club is also planning with the German trainer in the 2014/15 season.

His credo is to promote his own youth and train them in the best possible way, and he will not only be a driving force in this aspect from day one," Sterzing's sporting director Egon Gschnitzer is quoted as saying in the club's own press release.

Kammerer's coaching career began in 2000

Axel Kammerer, 49 years old from Bad Tölz, began his coaching career in the 2000/01 season as assistant to the legendary “Alpenvolkan” Hans Zach at the Kassel Huskies in the DEL, before the two moved to the Kölner Haien together two years later. Kammerer returned to the Huskies as head coach in 2003/04, but was placed on leave in January and only returned after a year off, this time as head coach of his hometown club Bad Tölz in the second Bundesliga. There he had to be relegated to the league with the Lions, but he led them to the championship title in 2007/08 and returned with them to the second highest division.

In the 2009/10 season, Kammerer moved to the Schwenninger Wild Wings, which he led to the finals twice in a row as head coach and sparked true euphoria around the team. After four defeats in the first five games of the 2011/12 season, he had to resign from his position and then held the position of assistant coach for the German U20 national team.

He joined SC Riessersee for the 2012/13 season, was given a leave of absence in January due to a lack of sporting success and has been without a job since then, before he accepted the challenge at the Broncos in February and was able to turn things around after a very difficult season.

Axel Kammerer is already looking forward to the new season with the wild horses: “We ended the season with a really good feeling and that of course makes you want more. We were a real team at the end, as a team and also with the board, and I'm looking forward to building on that. We will now look to put together a powerful team together and prepare ourselves perfectly for the new season.
