Bolzano remains in the derby without losing any points

As reported, HC Bozen had to start the away trip over Brenner without Rick Schofield, Daniel Frank, Paul Zanette, Stefan Zisser and Guntis Galvins, but former Kalterer Denny Deanesi celebrated his debut in the HCB jersey.

HCB with a strong start

Despite the numerous failures, Bozen took the reins from the start. Pance forced HCI goalie Munro into a brilliant save after just a few seconds, and two minutes later Sisca failed at the post. The home team only became dangerous in the twelfth minute through Siddall. In the final phase of the first third, Munro made a mistake: He gave the puck to Sean McMonagle, who only had to push it in to make it 1-0. This was the well-deserved lead goal for the HCB.

The sharks strike back

After the break, the champions slowed down a gear and allowed Innsbruck to find their way into the game. While Hübl was initially able to defuse a shot from Vanballegoodie in a spectacular way, he had to reach behind himself for the first time towards the halfway point of the game when Höller scored to make it 1-1. The Tyrolean striker missed a top-class chance a little later.

DeSimone is the match winner

This was to take revenge, because in the last minute of the second third, Anton Bernard perfectly set the stage for his strike partner Phil DeSimone, who didn't need to be asked twice and shot the HCB into the lead again. Now Innsbruck was forced to go on the offensive. However, the HCB defense held tight and repeatedly initiated attacks to relieve the pressure. Justin Keller stubbornly missed one of these counterattacks towards the middle of the final third. But it should be enough for the South Tyroleans to win a full point, because Hübl held tight at the back in the last, extremely exciting minutes of the game and kept the playoff round table leaders' clean slate.
