Bozen misses the first point: penalty defeat against Dornbirn

HCB coach Tom Pokel was able to call on all squad players in the fifth game of the season and played with four lines from the start. The 2200 spectators saw a reunion with former Serie A players Adam Dennis, Olivier Magnan and Luciano Aquino on the Dornbirn side.

It was only in the second half of the game that the Vorarlbergers woke up and started their first offensive efforts. These were promptly rewarded: After 22.14:1, Grabher-Meier made it 3:3. But just a few minutes later, HCB captain Egger, in the majority, restored the old lead. However, the South Tyroleans only stayed on the trigger for a short time before they were weakened by a penalty from Insam. Dornbirn took advantage of their numerical superiority with a goal from Sonne. At the latest with D'Alvise's 4-30.56 goal after XNUMX:XNUMX the game was on fire again.

In the final third the game was on a knife edge for a long time before Bolzano got itself into trouble again through indiscipline. This time, two players, Insam and Civitarese, were in the “cooler box” when Oraze made it 52.45:4 after 4 minutes. Just 52 seconds later, Aquino scored the advantage to make it 5-4 for the Austrians. Now the HCB pulled themselves together again and got an instant equalizer through Whitfield. So both teams had to go into overtime. There Aquino missed the only really top-class scoring opportunity. The decision was to be made in a penalty shootout: While the cracks in the white and red jerseys were losing their nerve, Jarrett flicked the target into the net and secured Dornbirn the full number of points.
