Bolzano is back: victory in the goal spectacle against Innsbruck

In the duel against the North Tyroleans, Bozen's coach Tom Pokel had to do without the injured Nick Palmieri, as in the first three games of the pick round. The trainer and the approximately 3350 spectators in the ice wave saw an extremely lively starting third in which the Innsbruck team initially took the lead. Lammers went through from the left and passed it to Bishop in the middle, who scored to make it 1-0. But the guests' lead lasted less than two minutes: a quick counterattack via Frank and Metropolit landed in the North Tyrolean goal - the HCB had equalized the game. Shortly afterwards, things got even better for the “Foxes”: Gander caught HCI goalkeeper Chiodo on the wrong foot and scored to give Bolzano the lead for the first time. Shortly before the end of the third, the guests struck for the second time. After a catastrophic bad pass from the weak Luoma, Lammers was up and away and stayed cool in front of Melichercik - so the game was back in balance.

The second third was a spectacular goal-scoring spectacle: it started with Bernard, who made it 3-2 after a one-two with Kearney. With a double majority, Insam increased the lead to 4:2, before Kearney shortly afterwards - with one more man on the ice - even made it 5:2. But the Innsbruck team didn't give up and reduced the score to 3:5 with Smith. But just a few seconds later, Glira scored the ninth goal of the afternoon and restored the comforting three-goal lead. However, the HCB was too negligent with the clear lead - the “Sharks” punished this immediately: Glenn lost the disc carelessly when they were in the majority, Spurgeon thanked him and shortened the score to 4:6. With a two-goal lead from the Bolzano team's perspective, the two teams said goodbye to the dressing rooms for the second time.

In the last 20 minutes, the offensive lines of both teams excelled again and again. The HCI set the first accent with Stach, who scored after a pass from Bishop to make it 5:6 and put Bozen in a lot of trouble. However, the North Tyroleans were unable to equalize - on the contrary: around twelve minutes before the end, Vallerand crowned a strong solo and made it 7:5 from Bolzano's perspective. As a result, the guests pushed vehemently for another goal, but failed due to their own inability and HCB goalkeeper Melichercik. When Innsbruck coach Rob Palin took Chiodo off the ice for a sixth skater three minutes before the end, Oleksuk provided the last highlight of the evening: The Canadian hit the empty goal and thus completed the “Foxes” first victory in the pick round .
