Bolzano grabs national player Stefano Marchetti

The older brother of HCB attacker Michele Marchetti will appear in the EBEL for the first time next season. The experienced defender is considered a versatile player who, in addition to his strengths in defense, also knows how to distribute pucks and provide assists.

Marchetti began his career in Fassa, where he made his first-team debut in 2002. Wearing the jersey of his hometown club, the 30-year-old matured into a national player and has been an integral part of the “Azzurri” squad since his debut in 2006. After a two-year interlude at Pontebba, Marchetti moved to Asiago in 2001 and celebrated the greatest successes of his career with the Veneto club. In his six years in Asiago he won two championship titles and a Supercup and also took part in the Continental Cup three times.

“Push my limits in every game” Marchetti is confident about his white-red future: “I am very happy to be here in Bolzano. After six successful years in Asiago, the move to EBEL is a leap in quality and at the same time a big challenge for me. In the AHL I had my first experiences with foreign teams, even though I know that the level at HCB is even higher. I'm a player who pushes his limits in every game and I want to show that to the fans." The national player is very pleased that Marchetti will meet his younger brother in the Talferstadt: "It's very special because only very few have the happiness of playing on a team with my brother. Michele told me that you have to put in a lot of effort in Bolzano, but I don’t shy away from that.”

Coach Pat Curcio sees Marchetti as a “seasoned defender who will certainly help us with his great experience. Stefano runs the disc well, is a strong ice skater and can always be used on the special teams.”
