“Bozen duel” for the Stanley Cup

The two ice hockey greats and their teams will duel for the most important trophy in ice hockey starting next night. The final will also be watched with excitement in Bolzano, where Jaromir Jagr and Niklas Hjalmarsson left a lasting impression. The Czech offered probably the best ice hockey that Bolzano fans have ever seen in December 1994, while the Swedish defender impressed the spectators with his performances in the ice wave in winter 2012.

Jaromir Jagr: Like from another planet The now 41-year-old from Kladno only needed six appearances to go down in Bolzano club history. He led the HCB to win the Six Nations tournament with some incredible performances. In the first leg of the final in Rouen, Jagr contributed no less than five assists to the White-Reds' 7-5 victory, while in the second leg in front of 7.031 frenzied spectators in Bolzano he scored two of the five goals in the 5-3 win.

Niklas Hjalmarsson: Style and efficiency Twenty years after this triumph, another lockout player, Niklas Hjalmarsson, slipped into the Bolzano jersey - and he too was to leave a formative impression. The Swedish defender collected 18 points in 22 competitive appearances and made a significant contribution to reaching the final round of the Continental Cup. In the decisive game in the semi-final tournament in Bolzano, the 26-year-old Swede Toros Neftekamsk pulled off a brilliant performance in a double-numbered situation and prepared the decisive winning goal with a real “feat” in an exemplary manner.

Jagr and Hjalmarsson in comparison If you compare the statistics of the two NHL professionals, Jagr clearly overshadows Hjalmarsson. With countless successes and personal records, the Czech developed into one of the best ice hockey players of all time. In addition to two Stanley Cup victories, he won an Olympic gold and two world titles. Over the course of his 1587 NHL appearances, marked by an incredible 1884 points, Jagr earned numerous personal awards. However, despite his young age and his “only” six seasons in the NHL, Hjalmarrson has already won a title. This dates from 2010.

One of the two former HC Bozen players will expand his trophy collection in a few days. Who that will be is still completely unclear. However, the first game between Boston and Chicago next night at 2 a.m. (CEST) could provide an indication.

“Bozen duel” for the Stanley Cup

There are only a few hours left until the first puck drop in the 2013 Stanley Cup final. Then not only will the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins face each other on the ice, but also two former HC Bozen players. Namely Niklas Hjalmarsson and Jaromir Jagr.
