Brixen's Falcons venture into the Elite League adventure

David versus Goliath! Amateurs against semi-professionals! This is probably the best way to describe the mission of the Falcons of Brixen. "Of course it's a big challenge to compete against teams that operate with 20 times our budget. As a young club, due to our low budget, we had to focus on the league that we could finance. And that's the Tyroleans Elite league," says Brixen president Alex Gusella.

In fact, due to the proximity to Tyrol, the away trips are nowhere near as big as in Serie B. However, teams like Zirl, Wattens, Kundl, Hoheneims, Kufstein, Montafon and Feldkirch are on the list as opponents, which are also each will contest the championship with a transfer card player.

"Our team has passion. The players want to prove themselves again and show how far a fighting spirit and ambition can take you. Winning the championship last year with Freienfeld gave the players additional motivation and so they started thinking about the adventure to start with Brixen," explains Michael Sparber, captain of the AHC Freienfeld.

Participation in the elite league is no coincidence. The still young Brixen club would like to offer its own youth perspective and after cooperating with the AHC Freienfeld in the past, the idea of a joint first team was the logical consequence. "It's the right time to dare the adventure. The club has experienced an enormous upswing and now that a few players from Brixen are still active, we can take the opportunity and plan long-term with a first team to integrate our youth tomorrow. Participation "An Italian championship is of course our long-term goal," continued Gusella.

So you can look forward to Brixen with excitement and be surprised at which players will take on this challenge. If you look at the AHC Freienfeld 2015 team, you can definitely list some interesting players. Christian Rainer, Thomas Pichler, Martin Haller, Luca Scardoni and Oliver Schenk are a few who were no strangers to Serie A and A2 until recently.

The first team is coached by Elmar Parth, who recently signed a four-year contract with the Falken von Brixen.

After two years of development work, the Falcons are about to embark on their first senior adventure. On Tuesday, the club confirmed its official participation, in cooperation with the AHC Freienfeld, in the Tyrolean Elite League 2015/2016.
