Broncos Vipiteno: Maffia and Brunner round out the squad

Leifer native Daniel Maffia returned to the Broncos from the DNL in the 2012/13 season. He had to deal with incredibly bad luck with injuries throughout his career, and he broke his ankle during the preparation for the season before last. He was sidelined for almost the entire season, and last season he was still suffering from the effects of this injury, as the metal plates were only removed a few weeks before the start of the season. Of course, this surgical procedure prevented optimal preparation, but the 183 cm tall, 83 kg left-shooter was still able to play an overall satisfactory season. The statistical record wasn't bad with two goals and six assists in 37 games with 22 penalty minutes and a plus/minus rating of -3, but he wants to get off to a flying start this year without any health problems.

The Austrian Felix Brunner, born in 1995, completed a tryout with the Wildpferden in the last few weeks and is no stranger to the Wipptal, having played in the seasons from 2009/10 to 2011/12 as a student at the sports high school for the BroncosJunior, with whom he was Italian in 2012 Became U20 champion. Therefore, according to the regulations of the Italian Ice Sports Association, he is considered an ice hockey Italian and therefore does not burden the import player quota.

After his stint in the southern Wipptal, the 186 cm tall and 84 kg winger from Wörgl moved to the Okanagan Ice Hockey Academy in St. Pölten, where he played in the EBYSL for two seasons and then moved to North America. Last season he played 38 games in the AHL with EC Kitzbühel, scoring two goals and three assists with 18 penalty minutes and a plus/minus rating of -14.

The 19-year-old striker Michael Delueg will be moving to Vienna for study reasons and is therefore no longer available.

“The Broncos’ squad planning with a view to the 2017/18 championship has now been completed,” the Wipptalers announced in their press release.

The WSV Vipiteno Broncos Weihenstephan has extended the contract of defender Daniel Maffia and also signed striker Felix Brunner.
