The roles were clearly assigned before the start of the best-of-three series: HC Pustertal, hungry for its first Italian championship title, was the favorite, while the Buam could only surprise. Despite or precisely because of this starting position, a battle of equals developed, which culminated in the all-important third game in the Rienz Stadium. In this, the Buam narrowly won 3-2 and made it to the final.

Before the match, HC Pustertal was confronted with two pieces of bad news: one concerned Bryson Cianfrone, who will probably be out for a long time after a collision with Stefan Quinz on Thursday. The fact that the HCP's tank was fuller than that of the Buam that evening became apparent in the second 20 minutes: Yuri Cristellon, Brett Perlini, Massimo Carozza or Andergassen should have shot the Wolves into the lead, but they were unable to do so due to their own incompetence . Instead, the Buam showed great callousness when Marco Marzolini, who was set up by Julian Kostner, caught Furlong at the near post. A goal that did not reflect the course of the game, but showed the qualities of the guests - it was 2-1 after 40 minutes. The HCP then replaced its goalie with an additional field player, but there was no way through against the outstanding Bustreif and the compact Buam defense.

So the Rittner Buam are playing against Asiago for the Italian championship title, while the HCP has to digest this disappointment. A difficult task given the starting position and the course of the game.
