With the Herning Blue Fox, a multiple Danish champion is coming to Klobenstein. The blue and yellow have 16 championship trophies in their showcases so far. The Fischtown Pinguins, who were crowned DEL2 champions last year, have been around since the summer of 2002; previously the ice hockey club was called REV Bremerhaven. The title won last year is, along with that of 2002 (also 2nd German league), one of the North Germans' greatest successes. The team's coach since 2012 has been 42-year-old Canadian Mike Stewart. So far, however, the ice hockey club from Bremerhaven has had a rather mixed season. In the table, which is confidently led by last year's final opponent of the Pinguins, the Bietigheim Steelers, the Bremerhaven team is currently in eleventh place. The Fischtown Pinguins have a player in their ranks who will be particularly well-known to South Tyrolean fans: the former Valpellice player Ryan Martinelli, who on February 26, 2011 in the fifth playoff quarter-final game between Valpe and Ritten in the sixth minute of extra time He scored the winning goal and led his team to the semi-finals (see video), has been collecting points in the far north for two years.

HC Ertis Pavlodar

The Kazakh club was founded in 1975, but professional ice hockey has only been played in the northern Kazakh city of Pavlodar since the 2003 season due to various circumstances. HC Ertis Pavlodar's breakthrough in the Kazakh championship came three years ago when the club reached the final for the first time, but had to give way to HK Beibarys Atyrau. However, the first title win was not long in coming: a year later there was a new edition of the final, in which Ertis Pawlodar took revenge, won the series 4-1 and was thus crowned Kazakh champions for the first time. The club was able to repeat this success the following season and the Black and Whites are currently in first place in the table with an impressive goal tally (106 goals in 22 games). The club's talent pool included some well-known players such as Maxim Kuznetsov, who made it to the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings and the LA Kings and played 136 championship games.
