Continental Cup: Ritten is also subject to Belfast

Belfast clearly set the tone at the start. After just 21 seconds, Thomas Tragust was just able to scrape the puck off the line. Only 92 seconds had been played in the middle third when Riley was back in place and made it 3-2. Shortly afterwards, Ritten was unlucky as Henrik Eriksson only hit the post. Then nothing more happened until the 33rd minute, before Francis Beauvillier scored to make it 4-2. Shortly before the second third siren, Ritten's Imants Lescovs and Belfast's Hunter Bishop received a match penalty for excessive harshness.

The “Buam” then conceded the 46:2 goal from Darcy Murphy in the 5th minute. So the match was decided in favor of the Northern Irish. Eight minutes from time, Jonathan Boxill completed the half-dozen and Belfast deservedly won 6-2.

On Saturday against Zagreb

Ritten's third and final game is scheduled for Saturday at 16 p.m. CET. The “Buam” will face Croatian champions Zagreb, who won against Katowice with 3-2 goals on Friday afternoon. Lehtonen's troops have to beat the Croatians 7-0 in a real shooting festival and at the same time hope that Belfast also celebrates a resounding win against Katowice. Otherwise, the Rittner team failed to reach the final.

After the opening 0-4 defeat on Thursday in the semi-final against the Polish champions GKS Katowice, Ritten also had to admit defeat to the Northern Irish hosts Belfast Giants with 2-6 goals on Friday evening.
