Continental Cup: Rittner Buam win the next thriller

With this victory, the Rittners are taking a big step towards the Super Final. Tomorrow at 19 p.m. in the final match of this semi-final, a single point is enough for the Italian champions to safely move into the final. But it won't be easy, because tomorrow's opponents Shakhtyor Soligorsk from Belarus and Atyrau can still qualify.

Ritten coach Lehtonen again used the two newcomers Gomes and Williams with Tommaso Traversa in the second attack block today. The third “new guy”, Brad Cole, played in defense with Fabian Ebner. In the starting third both teams studied each other and no goals were scored. Three minutes after the first break, Maxim Sharifyanov gave the visitors the lead. Atyrau then missed two power plays (Gomes and Hofer were in the penalty box) to extend the lead. Ritten, however, equalized in the 33rd minute with a long-range shot from defender Ivan Tauferer to make it 1-1. It stayed that way after two thirds.

In the 47.21 minute, the striking Albert Vishyakov shot the Kazakhs forward for the second time. Once again, Atyrau's power play was unsuccessful (Williams was in the box) and Ritten equalized again. Seven minutes before the end of the game, Dan Tudin made it 2-2. But that wasn't enough, because just 25 seconds before the final siren, Jason Williams scored on a pass from Gomes and Traversa to make the final score 3-2. The former Stanley Cup winner now leads the tournament's scorers list with 4 points (3 goals and 1 assist).

The rider Ivan Tauferer and the goalscorer for the 2-1 win for the Kazakhs, Albert Vishyakov, were named best players of the match.
