Thanks to masterful morale: Rittner Buam win the title

Asiago got off to a dream start. After just six seconds, Asiago's latest signing, Krystofer Kolanos, gave the home team a 1-0 lead on a pass from Daniel Sullivan. In the 6.05 minute, Marchetti released Davide Conci, who even increased the score to 2-0. But Ritten didn't give up and scored six minutes later. Alex Frei shortened the score to 1:2 with a powerful shot into the top corner.

In the middle third, Ritten continued to press and had good chances to score, but Kostner & Co. kept biting their teeth on ex-goalie Frederic Cloutier. In the 32.55 minute the Italian champions managed to score a well-deserved equalizer. Tommaso Traversa used captain Christian Borgatello's pass to make it 2-2. But that wasn't enough, because one minute before the end of the second third, Alex Frei even scored the goal to make it 3-2 for the “Buam”.

In the final third, Ritten controlled the game, while Asiago could no longer gain momentum. The home team threw everything forward and had good chances, but were repeatedly denied by the strong Patrick Killeen. The match ended with the Rittners narrowly winning 3-2.

With this triumph, Ritten was crowned Italian champion for the second time in a row. Last year, the Rittner team beat HC Pustertal 3-1 away in the sixth play-off game in the Serie A final. Overall, it was the third “Scudetto” in the “Buam” club history.
