The Foxes' home debut goes badly wrong

Tom Pokel had to do without new signing RyanGlenn and Marc-Olivier Vallerand, who suffered a concussion in Innsbruck, and the feverish Alexander Egger. The captain was replaced in defense by Marco Insam. This time in goal, the HCB coach put his trust in the young Jacob Smith.

The game was interrupted in the third minute because a plexiglass panel broke and had to be replaced. The Foxes then started like fire engines and played an excellent first third - the only thing missing were the goals. Even a four-minute outnumbered game was survived without any problems, on the contrary, the Foxes captured the clearer scoring opportunities. Reid was beautifully cleared by Yogan, but was denied three times in a row by Ouzas. Then the HCB had the opportunity to play in the majority, Yogan and Seymour conducted the orchestra, but a goal simply wouldn't be scored. In the twelfth minute, Palmieri delivered a masterpiece in front of the opponent's goal, but he too was unsuccessful in finishing. Just like Gander, Oleksuk and Reid a little later, all of whom were missed by the Linz goalie. Three minutes before the end of the period, Seymour sent Reid on his way again when he was outnumbered with a great hole pass, but Ouzas was the last stop again.

And whoever doesn't score...

...is punished at the back. That's exactly how it happened: Linz took the lead with their first notable action: Smith blocked the target on Lebler's shot with a great reflex, but Hofer was quicker and scored to make it 1-0 for the guests. The Foxes continued to press, but in the 25th minute Hofer made it 2-0. Smith deflected his penalty confidently. Then it was the HCB's turn again: Frigo, Root and twice Palmieri missed in the opponent's third. On the other hand, the Black Wings struck again just before the second siren. Dan DaSilva was the goalscorer, the encore came from Hisey.

In the final third the “Foxes” noticeably ran out of strength. Linz opened up a lot of space for counterattacks. Former HCB crack Broda completed one of these counterattacks to make it 3-0. Four minutes before the end, Tom Pokel took his goalkeeper out of the game and tried to achieve success with six field players. However, only the guests managed to do this: Fabio Hofer and Stefan Gaffal increased the score to 5-0.

HCB Südtirol is not really getting going in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League: The Foxes followed the derby defeat in Innsbruck with a 0:5 in the duel with the Black Wings Linz. The almost 2.700 spectators in the ice wave had really imagined the first home game differently.
