South Tyrolean ice hockey in the spectator test

With 18.431 paying guests, the Bozen Eiswelle was by far the most visited ice hockey stadium in South Tyrol to date. However, the HCB has already played nine home games in the current EBEL season. This corresponds to an average of 2.047 spectators per match. While the 2014 champions can only be found in the bottom third of the league rankings in these statistics, no other club in South Tyrol can hold a candle to them.

Loss of spectators in Serie A

The closest thing to the club from the state capital is HC Pustertal, which has the best attendance record in Serie A. The Wolves have welcomed an average of 1.141 fans to the Rienz Stadium so far. That is significantly less than last year. The decline in spectators at struggling league rivals HC Gherdeina (471 average) is alarming ), which sold a good third more tickets in the regular season last season. The Broncos Sterzing (634 Ø ), who, due to their sporting successes, attracted an average of almost 100 more fans to the Weihenstephan Arena than a year ago. This means that the Wipptalers are still ahead of league leaders and runners-up Ritten in the ranking, which only has an average of 534 fans. One comparison is particularly striking here: Almost the same number of spectators (422 average) attended the two Serie B home games of the second representative Rittner Buam against Fiemme and Eppan ) to the Arena Ritten.

HCM is “in” again

Ritten B is by no means the crowd of spectators in the second highest division. Milan naturally sets the tone there. The traditional club has the best attendance in Italian ice hockey with 1.568. But the statistics of HC Meran are also impressive. The Adler usually play in front of 640 fans, which puts them in third place in the South Tyrolean rankings after Bolzano and Pustertal. The Serie B leader HC Neumarkt (585 Ø) also does better than many first division teams. Also notable are the almost 400 spectators for the Aurora Frogs, who have attended most of their home games so far "Exile " In had to take place in Neumarkt.

Meanwhile, gloom reigns in the ticket booths of the Überetsch second division clubs. In Eppan and Kaltern they probably expected more than 327 and a meager 89 spectators at their own home games.
