The DolomitenCup is now one of the most traditional summer preparation tournaments in Europe. Numerous top European teams such as former champions Sparta Prague, HC Lugano, Adler Mannheim, Kölner Haie, Black Wings Linz, ERC Ingolstadt, Grizzlys Wolfsburg, Spenglercup winners Geneva Servette, EV Zug and the Kloten Flyers have taken part in the tournament in the past.

This year again four top clubs are coming to South Tyrol: In addition to the two DEL clubs Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers from Nuremberg and the Augsburger Panthern as well as the Czech runner-up from 2014 Kometa Brno, Klagenfurt AC will also be playing for tournament victory in August.

The Carinthians had already taken part in the DolomitenCup five years ago and narrowly lost the final against EHC Munich 4:5 after a penalty shootout. Those responsible for the Dolomites Cup have invited the KAC, the most successful ice hockey club in Austria. In the last 25 years alone, the red-whites have been in the final 14 times, the last time the 30-time champion became champion was three years ago. After the traditional club missed out on a lot in the regular round of the last EBEL season, but showed strong performances in the playoffs and was only narrowly defeated by eventual champions Salzburg in the quarter-finals, the KAC wants to fully attack again from autumn. As an international preparatory tournament, the DolomitenCup offers the ideal conditions for this.

Klagenfurt AC will play against the Augsburger Panthers in the first semi-final on August 12th. The second semi-final will take place on August 13th between the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers and Kometa Brno. The game for third place and the grand final will take place on Sunday.

The four teams that will tackle the international preparatory tournament in Neumarkt have been determined: Austria's record champions, Klagenfurter AC, were the last participants to accept. The DolomitenCup takes place from August 12th to 14th in Würtharena.
