Before the start of the game, HC Pustertal had aimed for a victory in order to secure their place in the final early and thus give themselves longer preparation time for the big final showdown with HC Bozen. Coach Teppo Kivelä was once again able to make the most of it. Due to the foreigner regulations, Desfosses and Magnan had to sit in the stands, but Kelly returned to the team. Erlacher was also allowed to get involved again after his ban was reduced from two to one game by the sports court. At Alleghe, however, the recovered Alberto Fontanive played for the first time, while Card and Manfroi had to pass.

In front of full spectator stands in the Leitner Solar Arena, both teams initially offered lean ice hockey fare before Adam Henrich made it 11.58-1 out of nowhere after 0:61 minutes. The beefy Alleghe striker used a shot from Hogeboom that Strömberg initially let bounce away. Now there was real fire in the encounter. Manferone missed the visitors' second goal, but the Wolves gradually gained momentum. The first real attack resulted in Scandella's equalizer, who deflected a shot from Ling past the opposing goalkeeper and into the net. In return, Lorenzi missed a good opportunity. 2 seconds before the first third siren, Oberrauch (in the majority) used a fine pass from Scandella to give Bruneck the lead for the first time. At the beginning of the second third, the HCP left a double power play situation unused. A few minutes later, Cullen failed alone in front of goalie Dennis, Alleghe immediately initiated the counterattack, which Nicola Fontanive completed to make it 2-30. However, the Wolves were not impressed: Ling played through to Willleit, who gave the yellow-blacks the lead again with a direct pass in the 5th minute. A short time later, Dennis drove Watson to despair with a brilliant performance before he had to admit defeat for the fourth time when Cullen pushed the hard rubber disc over the goal line. Strengthened by the two-goal lead, Pustertal now pushed the opponent deep in front of their own goal and gave them no chance to get back into the game. Although Alleghe struggled at the beginning of the final third, Pustertal never gave up the reins. After a shot from Bona, Erlacher reacted quickest and scored to make it 2-6. The game was over; even Alleghe's last, desperate attempts to take the goalkeeper off the ice were unsuccessful. On the contrary: Scandella scored into the empty goal to make the final score 2-5. Alleghe's strains during the relegation round were particularly noticeable in the final third. With the confident victory, HC Pustertal sent a warning signal to HC Bozen, who will be visiting Bruneck for the first final game on Thursday, April XNUMXth.
