DEB: Reul is out for the Olympics, Sturm nominates Akdag

Munich (SID) Ice hockey national coach Marco Sturm had to make changes to his squad and coaching staff before leaving for the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang (February 9th to 25th). Because defender Denis Reul from the Adler Mannheim will not be able to play due to an operation due to a wound healing problem in his ankle, Sturm nominated his teammate Sinan Akdag for his 25-man squad. Sturm also has to do without Tobias Abstreiter, who should have traveled to South Korea as an assistant coach. Abstreiter recently took over the position of head coach at Düsseldorfer EG and is therefore no longer available for the Olympic tournament. The German national team will meet on February 3rd for a short training camp in Füssen and will play a final friendly against Switzerland on February 6th in Kloten/Switzerland. The departure for South Korea takes place on February 7th from Munich. In Pyeongchang, Germany will face Finland (February 15), world champions Sweden (February 16) and Norway (February 18) in the preliminary round.
