The Champions League winner visits Neumarkt

When numerous top players from all over Europe get their hands on ice hockey in Neumarkt, when fans from near and far create goosebumps in the stands, in short: when the Würtarena turns into a cauldron again at the end of August 2023, then swing this time also a touch of royal class. Because the 17 Champions League triumphant Rögle BK will be there at the 2022th edition of the Dolomites Cup.

The club from the southern Swedish municipality of Ängelholm celebrated the greatest success in its history last March when they were able to bring their Finnish opponents Tappara to their knees in the final of the European premier class - and that in their first participation ever. This means that Rögle has finally become one of Sweden's top addresses after the Scandinavians won the runner-up title in the first league, i.e. the Svenska Hockeyligan, in the spring of 2021 - the club's greatest achievement to date at a national level.

Interesting names in the squad Rögle is on track this season. Through the pre-playoffs, the Swedes made it into the postseason, where the quarterfinal series against Skellefteå starts this week. The team of Canadian coach Cam Abbott (he has been in office since 2018) has some interesting names to offer, for example Marco Kasper. The 18-year-old from Carinthia is considered an Austrian super talent: In 2019, at the age of 15, Kasper played a few games in the Alps Hockey League with Klagenfurt II. He has since been drafted by the Detroit Red Wings and is currently on loan to Rögle.

In the past, many a superstar has donned the green, white and red jersey of Sweden, such as former NHL great Michael Nylander. The legendary goalie Henrik Lundqvist also played for Rögle, although only in his youth days. In the winter of 2020/21, Germany's top talent Moritz Seider also played for the Swedes and was named defender of the season.

Rögle BK, which was founded in 1932, is also known in Sweden for its strong fan base. The “Rögle Army” creates a great atmosphere in the stadiums, especially in the local Catena Arena, which has space for 5150 people.
