The DolomitenCup is traveling to Augsburg for the third time

In the eagerly awaited final, both teams set an extremely high pace from the start. The tough preparation phase apparently left no trace on the cracks. Those from Nuremberg in particular immediately pushed into the opposing third. After a perfect pass from David Steckel, Leonhard Pföderl put the puck in the goal alone in front of Panther goalie Ben Meisner.

It didn't take long for the Swabians to react: Michael Davies converted a power play into a 1-1 draw. However, the Panthers' hunger was far from satisfied. They stayed on the trigger and were rewarded with their first lead in the 18th minute. This was credited to Thomas Jordan Trevelyan, who coldly took advantage of a lack of attention on the part of the Nuremberg defense. Andreas Jenike in the Ice Tigers' goal had to reach behind himself a third time four seconds before the third timer when Arvid's Rekis gave him no chance to defend. Now the Ice Tigers were challenged at the beginning of the second third. They tried to stand up to their league rivals, but neither a remarkable finish from Steven Reinprecht nor an almost one-minute power play were crowned with success. On the other hand, Trevelyan was a constant source of trouble. In the 32nd minute he cleverly played around Jenike, but was then denied by an opposing defender who blocked the puck on the line. Nuremberg's second goal came immediately after the last break: 19 seconds after the start of the final period, Andrew Kozek placed the hard rubber disc in Augsburg's box. Now there was suddenly real tension in the game again. This escalated further when Nuremberg was allowed to play on the power play for several minutes. However, the Franconians lacked the necessary cold-bloodedness in front of the opponent's goal. On the other side, Drew Leblanc missed a top-class opportunity.

However, the preliminary decision was to come in the 57th minute: Jenike let a Guentzel shot slip out of the catcher's glove during Augsburg's power play and David Stieler was there. He scored to make it 4:2. After that, Nuremberg was once again all the way forward with six field players, but they were no longer able to connect. Augsburg's third tournament victory was perfect.

Klagenfurt wins the “small final” With a successful comeback, Klagenfurt AC took third place in the 11th DolomitenCup. The Austrian record champions defeated HC Kometa Brno 3-2.
