EV Zug rolls into the DolomitenCup final

The almost 1.000 spectators in the Würtarena were treated to a rapid start from the Ice Tigers, who took the lead in the second minute of the game through Leo Pföderl. He successfully directed a shot into the net. Garrett Roe delivered the immediate answer from the vice-champion from Switzerland, but Nuremberg goalie Andreas Jenike directed his shot onto the post. In the fifth minute, Pföderl was there again: The Franks' home-grown team took advantage of a mistake by Zug's defense to make it 2-0. Only with two more men on the ice did EV Zug manage to get back into the game. In the 13th minute, Sven Senteler made it happen. But just now, when the Confederates seemed to be gaining the upper hand, Nuremberg struck ice cold twice. First the advanced Taylor Aronson scored, then his defensive partner Tom Gilbert.

Ice Tigers give up a three-goal lead After the first break, Zug finally took control, but repeatedly made dangerous mistakes in defense. However, Nuremberg could no longer capitalize on it. Senteler gave Jenike no chance to defend in a one-on-one, and a little later Timothy Kast equalized to make it 4:4. Only with luck and skill did Nuremberg finally save themselves into overtime. This passed without a goal being scored, although Nuremberg had the advantage for several minutes. The winner was finally determined in a penalty shootout. Lino Martschini was the only shooter to put the target in the opponent's goal. He prevented the repeat of last year's final and ensured EV Zug's participation in the final of the DolomitenCup for the third time. This takes place on Sunday at 20 p.m., four hours earlier Nuremberg will play against Les Rapaces de Gap in the game for third place.
