A preliminary decision was made on Tuesday in the play-off semi-final between Alleghe and Pustertal, as the wolves have extended their lead in the series to 3-1 and can finally close the bag on Thursday. For the home team, Alberto Fontanive celebrated his comeback after a long absence, while Card and Manfroi were missing. For the guests, Strömberg returned between the posts, while Kelly was sent to the stands as a supernumerary foreigner and Erlacher served the first of two matchday suspensions. Things got really busy on the ice with Scandella failing on one side and Rocco not being able to celebrate the goal on the other. After 4.14:55 minutes, the Wolves were able to celebrate when Ling hit the puck with a millimeter-precise shot to give Adam Dennis the lead. On the other side, the home team hit the crossbar. In the first third there was also a situation where the guests had the advantage, but it ended without a goal being scored. Ling also had the second goal after a nice Scandella preparatory work, while Veggiato tested Strömberg on the other side. After the second break, the game became very one-sided and, similar to the second game of this series, “Fort Dennis” was under constant fire. But the Alleghe goalkeeper could not be overcome and stood out for Ling right from the start with a high-class goal. The Wolves increased the pressure on the power play, but here too they were unable to score. It wasn't until 74 seconds before the end of the second period that Ling was able to celebrate when he sent a Scandella assist into the net. Alleghe now seemed to be counted out, like a boxer. Because boxers who have just been counted are the most dangerous. That's how it was: with a double strike from Haverinen and Rocco within 45.18 seconds, the home team was back in business, because after 2 minutes the score was 2-75. HC Bozen remains undefeated in the play-offs. The White-Reds also won the fourth semi-final against Cortina on Tuesday with 3-2 goals after extra time and, as in the quarter-final against Fassa, secured the best-of-seven series with 4-0 victories. The match winner was Mark McCutcheon, who scored two goals. With this victory, the people of Bolzano are the first finalists. Both teams had to do without two top performers today. The home side were missing Jan Öberg, who sat in the stands as a surplus foreigner, and the ailing Luca Zanatta, while Bozen had to make do without the long-term injured Josh Meyers and Derek Edwardson. As expected, Cortina started very offensively, but repeatedly failed due to the outstanding HCB goalkeeper Matt Zaba. The number 1 from Bolzano particularly drove Rob Hennigar to despair with two brilliant saves. In the 10th minute, Zaba also made two decisive saves on Dingle. Immediately afterwards, Enrico Dorigatti missed the White-Reds' first good opportunity. Bozen then got into the game better and increased the pressure on Cortina's defense, especially with the Giliati-Sharp-Knackstedt parade block. Cortina was superior in this phase, but looked relatively harmless in the attack. Bozen, on the other hand, used the first advantage in the 28.38 minute (Andrea Moser was in the penalty box) to take the lead. Levasseur first saved a shot from Brandon Rogers with a brilliant save, but then the home team's goalkeeper couldn't prevent Mark McCutcheon from making it 1-0. Cortina reacted promptly, but again Zaba won the duel against Adami. The final third was very exciting. After 2.37:1 minutes, Curtis Fraser had to go to the penalty box. Half a minute later, Cortina equalized to make it 1-164.18 when they were outnumbered. Felicetti started the counter-attack, which Dingle successfully completed. Zaba had to admit defeat for the first time again after exactly 54.35 minutes. Cortina's joy didn't even last two minutes, because Marco Insam, with double the advantage, put the record champions back in the lead with a powerful shot from the blue line. Cortina was then unable to take advantage of two penalties against Ambrosi and Borgatello, but still equalized in the 52 minute with Jonas Johansson. So both teams had to go into extra time, which Mark McCutchen decided for the HCB with his second personal goal after just 28 seconds. For the 12-year-old American, it was the fourth play-off goal, the XNUMXth in this championship. Bolzano is therefore in the championship final, which begins on Thursday, April 5th. For Cortina, however, this year's season ends extremely positively with winning the Italian Cup and reaching the play-off semi-finals. Coach Stefan Mair has managed to turn the old master into a top team again.
