HC Bozen is in playoff form

Two days after the derby win in Innsbruck, HCB coach Mario Simioni was able to call on defender Roland Hofer again, while Guntis Galvins had to pass again. The encounter with VSV was at a very high level right from the start. After an initial period of pressure from the guests, Bozen was able to establish itself in the opponent's third and cause danger for the first time with shots from Bernard, McMonagle and Crowley. Cullen had the biggest chance in the first half of the game in the 13th minute when he found VSV goalie Lamoureux after a two-on-one situation.

The HCB is turning up the heat

At the beginning of the middle third, the HCB survived a double outnumbered game without conceding a goal. Immediately afterwards, the white and reds continued their aggressive forechecking. The reward came in the 30th minute: Insam, outnumbered, took courage after a nice pass from Cullen and hammered the puck into the net with a one-timer. The opening goal gave Bozen further impetus. Just two minutes after Insam's goal, Sisca made it 2-0. The Italian-Canadian deflected a shot from Zanette over the line. But the HCB cracks still didn't have enough and continued to push on the accelerator. But Lamoureux outgrew himself again and again and prevented the South Tyroleans from taking an even higher lead at the break.

Hübl is indomitable

In the last round, Bozen cleverly controlled the action and repeatedly created pinpricks with quick counterattacks. So it happened that the hosts continued to have the better chances to score. HCB goalkeeper Hübl only had to prove himself against a shot from Altmann. In the final phase, Villach took the goalkeeper off the ice in order to throw everything into the balance in a six-on-four game. While Hübl closed at the back, Schofield took advantage of the opportunity that presented itself and made the final score 3-0 with an empty-net goal. Shortly afterwards, the HC Bozen players were farewell with thunderous applause.

At the beginning of the week the next two home games against the rivals for a direct playoff place await Znojmo and Fehervar.

The new year couldn't have started better for the HCB: With a strong performance, the champions defeated Villacher SV 3-0 and underlined their ambitions for a top 2.600 place in front of more than 6 spectators.
