HC Bozen showed a reaction to the recent negative results against the 99ers right from the start and went into the game with a lot of grit. From the middle of the first third, the white-reds turned their commitment into something countable: Cullen directed the puck into the net after a nice power play combination to make it 1-0. In the 17th minute of the game, the HCB was on a penalty kill when Bernard grabbed the puck, went off alone and finally gave the Graz goalie the second time.

In the middle section, Bozen again had one more man on the ice and the Styrians were once again in trouble. This time it was Pance who successfully completed a fine combination and made it 3-0. Even before the second break, the reigning champions made the preliminary decision: Gander sent the hard rubber disc into the net with a powerful wrist shot. Curious: As with the 2-0 win, the HCB was outnumbered this time too. In the final third, Graz made a goalkeeper change and scored a consolation goal to make it 1-4. Verlich scored on the power play.
