HC Pustertal made an impressive comeback with a confident 4-1 win against Alleghe. In addition to the long-term injured Patrick Bona and Benno Obermair, the Wolves were again missing Ben Guitè, but Lukas Tauber and Pat Kavanagh returned to the team. The latter was to play a key role in the early stages: after 7.47 minutes he was served brilliantly by Pat Iannone and hammered the hard rubber disc into the net with a direct shot. Joe Jensen had previously had the lead, but he failed, as did Vince Rocco on the other side. After the goal, Alleghe, which had the luxury of sending a surplus foreigner to the stands in Gino Guyer, found its way into the game better and was promptly rewarded with a counterattack goal from Manuel De Toni. He and his line partners Jensen and Cullen played cat and mouse with their opponents, especially during this phase. Alleghe had nothing to counter this. In the final third, Pustertal needed just 15 seconds for Joe Jensen to make the decision. The HCP striker took advantage of a rebounded Mair shot and beat the unsure Dennis. Now the Bellunese's resistance was definitely broken and Adey's troops had an easy time maintaining a confident lead over time. The first home win for Helfer and Co. in the Master Round is now complete.
