The HCB is fishing in North America again: Chris DeSousa is coming

The new white and red striker has already made over 100 appearances in the AHL and is a very versatile player who can also be used on the wing due to his speed.

DeSousa (175 cm x 86 kg) began his career in the OHL with the Niagara IceDogs, then moved to the London Knights and the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors: he scored a total of 223 points in 313 games in Ontario. In 2011 he moved to the CIS, where he played for the University of Prince Edward Island for four seasons and collected 120 points in 126 matches. In 2013/14 he won the Universiade with Team Canada. In the 2014/15 season he made 20 appearances in the ECHL with the Indy Fuel, where he scored 16 points in 19 games, which earned him a contract in the AHL in the following season. He played for the Rockford IceHogs for the last two seasons and scored 18 points, while also making a few appearances in the ECHL. The current season with the Foxes will be his first experience on the Old Continent.

“One of the main reasons why I chose the Foxes,” explains Chris DeSousa, “is the opportunity to play in a league as high as the EBEL and to have Pat Curcio as a coach. I also took part in the Universiade in Trentino in 2013, where I won the gold medal with Canada. I really liked Italy and would love to come back there.”

“Chris is a hard worker,” explains coach Pat Curcio, “and he can take on a dual role in our team: He is a striker who can be used in any line and will give the game the necessary depth. He is very fast, his moves are characterized by high speed and he is also difficult to hold on to. I am convinced that Chris will be responsible for several important goals.”
