HC Bozen recently had to play away from home three times. In the final match against Ljubljana, Simioni's troops managed to forget the previous two defeats in Vienna and Klagenfurt. Now, however, the White-Reds have to improve at home in order not to lose touch with the top half of the table.

However, the upcoming task against the Graz 99ers is likely to prove particularly difficult. The Styrians have recently achieved three wins in a row and, with their completely renewed team, are one of the big surprises of the season so far. Graz is currently four points behind leaders Vienna, but still has one game to catch up on. On top of that, the HCB opponent has the best penalty killing in the league and also has the second best goalie in Danny Sabourin. Only Vienna goalkeeper Matt Zaba has been able to fend off more shots so far.

However, the 99ers will go into the game handicapped due to the absences of Tomas Petruska, Miha Verlic, Roberts Jekimovs and Willie Coetzee. It is still unclear at Bozen whether Markus Gander can play. “A very high hurdle awaits us. We can only beat Graz with a lot of discipline and maximum concentration,” says HCB striker Ziga Pance.
