The HCB takes one point from Klagenfurt

The first section of the game in Klagenfurt only offered a few highlights. The match started very badly for the Foxes, however, when captain Egger had Koch's puck behind the goal “snatched away”, who played Manuel Geier in the slot and after 68 seconds it was 1-0 for the home team. Then the game calmed down a bit, the only thing causing excitement was a counterattack by Reid, who found his match in Duba. As a result, Klagenfurt was unable to take advantage of two powerplays; on the other side, Ryan Glenn tried without success. Shortly before the end of the period, both teams had a good opportunity to score: Palmieri was forced off during a counterattack at the last moment and Hundredpound could not get the goal into Melichercik's box.

The second third was much more varied. It had only been three minutes when Mario Richter scored the second goal for the KAC after a blocked shot from Hundredpounds out of a commotion. After another minute the next goal was scored for the home team, this time Hartubise was on the top scorer list. The Foxes then scored first through Ryan Glenn, but Jamie Lundmark restored the three-goal lead. In Bolzano, hope arose again shortly before the third break because top scorer Brodie Reid scored the second goal for the HCB in the majority.

Bolzano equalizes

After just under a minute of play in the final third, Metropolit brought the Foxes within touching distance of the home team with his second goal in the white-red uniform. The Foxes continued to accelerate and pushed for the equalizer. In between, the people of Klagenfurt celebrated what they thought was a goal, but video evidence showed that it wasn't a goal. The Carinthians then tried to increase their lead again, but the shots from Duller and Hundredppound were too imprecise and the same player only hit the edge of the goal five minutes before the end of the match. Then it was the Foxes' turn again with Brodie Reid. The net was shaking, but the disc landed behind the goal. HCB Südtirol Alperia managed to equalize in the 57th minute through Markus Gander, who powered his way through the entire KAC defense and pushed the disc through Duba's legs into the goal.

The Foxes went into extra time for the second time in a row. There Everson had the first opportunity to make a decision, Duba defused it. On the other side, Manuel Ganahl shot just wide of the far corner.

The final decision therefore had to be made in the penalty shootout, where Jamie Lundmark scored the winning goal for his team.

They were already 0:3 and 1:4 behind, but fought their way back into the game and forced Klagenfurt into extra time: In the end, the Foxes still had to admit defeat by just 4:5.
