The HCB gets all the frustration off their chest

HCB coach Pat Curcio once again had to make do without the ailing Matt Clark in the ice wave filled with almost 2.600 spectators. But even without their well-known defensive specialist, things went really well for the home team from the start.

Travis Oleksuk, who was later named “Man of the match,” scored in the 5th minute to make it 1-0. After the opening goal, the Foxes literally went into a frenzy. In the 10th minute, Luca Frigo made it 2-0 before today's extremely strong Austin Smith hit the Fehervar goal for the third time after a fine power play combination. What then followed is an action that is rarely seen in ice hockey: Defenseman Matt Tomassoni played the puck from his own third towards the free-wheeling Mike Angelidis. However, he missed the pass. The puck came directly to goalie Visentin, who was apparently in a deep sleep and completely missed the point. 4:0 for the HCB! Things got even worse for Fehervar, however, as Angelidis pushed the score further up before the first third siren. He was served brilliantly by Michele Marchetti.

The game was de facto decided after just one third. The Eastern Europeans were able to shorten the score twice, but Mike Halmo always had the right answer ready and maintained Bolzano's five-goal lead until the end. With the 7:2, the Curcio team not only achieved their second home win, but also sent a clear sign of life to the competition.

The HCB gets all the frustration off their chest

HCB Südtirol Alperia only lasted two days at the bottom of the EBEL table. In the home game against Fehervar AV, convincing Foxes celebrated a 7-2 victory and at the same time handed over the red lantern to the Hungarians.
