The HCB addresses its fans with an open letter

"Dear fans and friends of HC Bozen Südtirol,

times were better. The financial problems of HC Bozen Südtirol cannot be denied. The general economic crisis and the extensive lack of sponsors - apart from our most loyal partner, the special beer brewery Forst - make it extremely difficult not to lose sight of the exciting ice hockey adventure EBEL.

Sure, mistakes have been made in the past, but the club management has always acted to the best of its knowledge and belief. And we are all fighting with the utmost commitment for our, for your, HCB South Tyrol. You fans demonstrate great, deeply moving devotion: Every initiative, no matter how small, that comes from the ranks of the fans, every help, no matter how tiny, is an incentive and motivation for us to continue on the rocky and steep path with the utmost effort. If we were to promise today that we would be ready to go in September, that would be a lie because it is simply not true. Deceiving the fans would be the last thing we would want to do at this delicate moment. We want to stick to the truth, we owe it to the club and its glorious past, and we owe it above all to you fans.

At the end of the month the die is cast and on June 30th we have to irrevocably and definitively inform the EBEL leadership whether we will face the Ebel challenge 2015/2016 or not. The prerequisites for a commitment are currently missing, but in the last few weeks there has been really hard work behind the scenes, there have been some very important meetings that give rise to hope. A key experience was the offer of help from Governor Arno Kompatscher, who came out as a fan of the EBEL and HCB Südtirol in this league of European dimensions. There are several initiatives with interesting and interested partners. If it doesn't remain empty promises, as is unfortunately very often the case, we can roll up our sleeves and plan for the 2015/2016 season and the following championships. However, if the answers we are waiting for are negative in the next few days, we will have to take a step back with a heavy heart and temporarily, or at least we hope, have to suspend high-level sporting activity.

Of course, we very much hope that this ice hockey “Grexit” does not take place, but at this point in time it has to be taken into consideration for better or worse. As soon as there is solid news and not just rumors, we as the club management will inform all fans and supporters of HC Bozen Südtirol. We are absolutely aware of the consequences of this ultimate step for our ice hockey, for our city, for our country - if it has to be taken in an unavoidable situation. But for now we hope with our fans. This support, this loyalty and, last but not least, the enthusiasm gives us strength to fight until the last moment.
