The Hechte captain hangs up his skates

After more than 300 games in the A2 series and 15 A1 matches in the Kalterer uniform (an A1 game with Ritten also appears in the statistics), Armin Ambach ended his career a few days ago. The center immediately communicated its decision to the Kalterer board, who noted it with great regret but even more understanding.

Family reasons led the father of two to come to this decision. “If you ask yourself too often what you are actually doing here because you would rather be somewhere else, the time has come to close it down,” the “Capitano” is quoted as saying by the Kalterer club management. He lacks the necessary fire to be able to play ice hockey well at this level and to be a top performer in training and games.

In the last three years in particular, Ambach had really blossomed again and delighted fans and teammates with cheeky, tricky and fast-paced ice hockey. Now the “boys,” as Ambach always called his teammates, have to make do without him.

Armin Ambach, who is valued by his teammates as a hard-working rascal, celebrated two championship titles with Kaltern and was instrumental in winning both championships.

Markus Kofler strengthens the defense However, there is a new addition to the Kalter defensive department. Markus Kofler is leaving HC Meran Junior on loan and joining SV Kaltern for a year. “It is an open secret that Kofler and Meran's coach Doug McKay never really got along, which is why the Meran club management agreed to the loan deal so that the young defensive player can develop further,” says the Hechte.

Kofler, who turned 8 on May 20, made his first-team debut in the 2009/10 season. To date he has played 49 games for the Passerstädter in the A2 series and collected ten scorer points. The 1,79 meter tall defender is best known among professionals for his aggressive style of play and is considered one of the greatest talents of his age in ice hockey circles.

Armin Ambach has had enough of active ice hockey. The 30-year-old from Kalter is ending his career for family reasons. The Kalterer club management can also welcome a new addition, namely the Merano youngster Markus Kofler.
