The Adler secured third place in the DolomitenCup

In the duel between the two semi-final losers, the waves were high from the start. The players from both teams repeatedly hacked at each other, which resulted in several boxing attacks and ultimately a whole series of penalty minutes. Sparta Prague took advantage of the temporary power play to fire their first warning shot with Michal Cajkovsky hitting the crossbar. A little later, the Sparta defender had a fist fight with Danny Richmond. Both cracks then had to take a shower early. Chances to score were scarce at this point. It was only in the final minute of the first half that Youri Ziffzer, who replaced Dennis Endras in the Mannheim goal, was able to distinguish himself with a remarkable save against Martin Prochazka.

In the second part of the game, a duel developed at eye level, in which the DEL champion, however, set the greater offensive accents. The Eagles finally rewarded themselves in the power play: In the 32nd minute, Jamie Tardif was there after a shot from Christoph Ulllmann and scored to make it 1-0. However, the German lead only lasted six minutes before Petr Kumstat directed the puck into the goal and equalized to 1-1. In the last minute of the middle third, Sparte doubled down and took the lead for the first time through Jaroslav Hlinka. The Czech captain gave the puck the decisive change in direction and deprived Ziffzer of any chance of defense.

The traditional Prague club remained in control after the last break, but failed to secure the preliminary decision. Lukas Pech failed to hit the goal post in the double power play. Mannheim then took the scepter back into his hand, but remained largely unsuccessful in the attack. Denis Reul, who had moved up, missed the best chance in a one-on-one with goalie Jan Lukas. Afterwards, Sparta striker Bad luck was in the spotlight again as he pushed the puck past the empty goal. This negligence was bitterly punished two minutes before the end: Tardif didn't need to be asked twice in the power play and pushed the puck over the line to make it 2-2. He sent both teams into a penalty shootout. Christoph Ullmann and Jan Buchtele first netted there before Brent Raedeke converted the decisive penalty - much to the delight of the hundred or so Adler fans who had traveled with them, who ultimately celebrated their team's third place.

At 20 p.m. the big final showdown will take place in the Neumarkt Würtharena between ERC Ingolstadt and the Kloten Flyers.
