The “Azzurri” lost out in the first Austrian test

For a long time the match was competitive, but balanced - even if Austria initially seemed more concrete going forward. The almost 800 spectators only saw goals in the final third. It was Martin Ulmer who broke the spell with a goal after 41 minutes and put his red-white-red team in the lead. The “Azzurri” then fought back against the impending defeat, but the visitors’ goalie, Bernhard Starkbaum, was always the last stop. In the end, Patrick Spannring made it 2-0 with an empty net.

Italy already has the chance to make amends on Monday. Then there will be another duel between the “Azzurri” and Austria in the TWK Arena in Innsbruck. Puck drop-off takes place at 16 p.m.
