The Black Wings take three points from the ice wave

Both teams went full throttle into the traditionally heated duel between the two EBEL competitors, with Linz initially setting the tone. So it came as no surprise when Fabio Hofer took advantage of Bolzano's first bad pass in the fifth minute with a skillful individual performance to make it 1-0. Afterwards the Foxes were wide awake. From then on they besieged the Linz Gate. Chris DeSousa, Angelo Micelli and Mike Halmo were initially unlucky with their shots, but in the 14th minute EHC goalie Ouzas was also defeated for the first time: Via Dominic Monardo and Michele Marchetti, the disc came to Mike Angelidis, who made it 1-1 netted. Now the “foxes” were really hungry. In their first power play, they put the Linz goal under constant siege - with success, because after attempts by Travis Oleksuk and Alex Petan, Monardo was finally there and scored to make it 2-1. In the remaining five minutes of the first third, Bozen kept their opponents at bay, despite being outnumbered.

Even after the first break, Bozen still held the scepter in its hand, but an ambush-like counter move by the Black Wings proved fatal for the South Tyroleans. Dan DaSilva finished with a rebound to make it 2-2. Afterwards, a duel developed at eye level, with the HCB tightening the reins again towards the end of the middle section and putting the opponent's case under constant fire. The best opportunity was missed by Petan, who shot over the goal. It wasn't until the petty referee sent Matias Sointu and DeSousa to the penalty box that the Black Wings were able to catch their breath.

The outnumbered game almost proved to be Bozen's undoing when DaSilva's shot hit the post at the start of the final third. Afterwards, the Foxes were the more dangerous team again, but Linz scored. The 3-2 was a copy of the second goal: Brian Lebler successfully completed a three-on-one counterattack. However, the visitors' lead lasted less than two minutes before Sointu poked the puck under Ouzas' pads and into the goal. From then on, the duel turned into a real thriller, in which the Austrian coldly took advantage of the only inattentiveness of the HCB defense. Once again it was DaSilva who shot unhindered from a tight angle to make it 4:3. There were still three minutes left for the people of Bolzano to defend themselves directly, but even a power play and a sixth field player couldn't help them equalize. Linz stole three points from the ice wave.
