The Broncos sign a tough sniper

The 178 cm tall and 77 kg bundle of energy completed his junior career in the QMHJL with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens, where he collected 354 goals and 103 assists with a whopping 116 penalty minutes in 590 games. Its popularity among fans of this traditional junior team remains unbroken and to this day Sector 9 at the Center Georges-Vézina, home of the Saguenéens, is unofficially called “Verreaultville”.

From there he moved to the renowned McGill University in Montreal, where the French native striker first had to polish his English skills and the beginning of his psychology studies proved to be a tough test of character and will. However, these adverse circumstances did not stop the tough fighter from achieving top performances both in his studies and in the university's ice hockey team. In 2011 he was awarded the Guy Lafleur Trophy for the best combination of academic success and sporting achievements. With a total of 120 goals, 101 assists, 221 points and 642 penalty minutes in 156 games with the McGill Redmen, he made it into the top ten of the Redmen's all-time leaderboard in several categories. In addition to the 2011 national championship, he earned an impressive array of awards and University League CIS All-Star nominations during his four seasons at McGill.

After a short stint with the Hershey Bears in the AHL, he tried his luck in the ECHL with Greenville, Bakersfield and Orlando (a total of 87 games, 24 goals, 40 assists and 246 penalty minutes), from where he moved to the 2013/14 season Tønsberg Vikings moved to Norway. Interestingly, he was brought in to the Vikings as a replacement for Derek Lee and Chris Knowlton, who had “emigrated” to the Broncos, but even with 4 goals and 12 assists in just 11 games he could not prevent his team from relegation.

After another interlude in the ECHL with Bakersfield, he was signed by HC Ajoie in the NLB at the beginning of December. In the second Swiss league he collected 19 goals and 11 assists, i.e. 14 points and 25 penalty minutes, in 50 regular season games and added a goal and 6 assists with 4 penalty minutes in 10 playoff games. After Ajoie's departure, he was loaned to Fribourg-Gottéron for the NLA relegation round, where he scored one goal in three games. Last season he was under contract with the Gentofte Stars in Denmark and scored five goals and 15 points in 21 games.

All the information that was obtained about the goal-threatening whirlwind was exactly the same and describes the trained center as a very fast ice skater who is a goal threat in both the power play and in 5-on-5 games whenever he is on the ice. He plays with incredible intensity, which can lead to a lot of penalty minutes, and doesn't shy away from anything or anyone if it helps his team win.

For the Broncos, Verreault-Paul will wear number “78.”
