The Eagles are back on the ice hockey throne

In a difficult season due to Corona and after a radical rejuvenation treatment, the Eagles played in a league of their own throughout the championship: only one of 14 total games was lost, 87 goals were scored against only 9 goals conceded. The only downer: the championship celebration without an audience and without the players Daniela Klotz, Samantha Gius, Alessia Labruna, Emily DeCristofaro and coach Stefano Daprà, all of whom were missing due to quarantine requirements.

It is the first final round in the 31-year history of Italy's women's ice hockey that was a purely South Tyrolean affair. In the final the Eagles from Bolzano and the Dobbiaco Icebears faced each other. The strong South Tyrolean performance was rounded off by the success of the Lakers Neumarkt, who defeated Fiemme 6-0 in the game for third place.

The runner-up title is a more than respectable season result for the Icebears from Toblach.

The second final game, against the Pusterers, who surprisingly and at the same time made it to the final much to the dismay of the Lakers, was clearly dominated by the Eagles' 9-1 victory in the first leg. Captain Valentina Bettarini and Co. had clearly declared their claim to the title, which they finally bagged with a 7:2 in the ice wave. As the game continued, Bonafini and Furlani (2), who only helped out for the Eagles at short notice due to the many absences, continued to increase the result.

Former Bozen natives Anna Cauma and Eva Maria Grunsers were able to shorten the gap for Toblach in the meantime, but Sara Kaneppele put the record champions' 17th championship title away in the second third. Nothing more happened in the final period and the Eagles' 7-2 victory was no longer shaken. The Eagles are back on the ice hockey throne

Two years after the last championship title (no title was awarded in the 2019/20 season due to corona), the Eagles from Bolzano have once again taken the championship crown in Italy's highest women's ice hockey league. They prevailed in the final against the Icebears Toblach.
