The Foxes bring in Denny Kearney - Egger and Palmieri confirmed

As part of the media event, HCB managing director Dieter Knoll announced that striker Denny Kearney had been signed. Kearney was born on January 27, 1988 in Hanover, New Hampshire. The 28-year-old winger began his career with the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs of the EJHL in the 2005/06 season. From 2007 to 2011, Kearney played for Yale University in the NCAA, where he also made six appearances in the AHL for the Springfield Falcons in the 2010/11 season. Kearney moved to Europe for the first time in the 2012/13 season. He played 15 games in the DEL2 for ESV Kaufbeuren, scoring five goals and providing four assists.

Denny Kearney then went to Briancon in France. The American won the championship with the club. In 40 games, Kearney had 74 points. At the end of the season, Kearney signed for Frisk Asker in Norway. Here he collected 49 points for the scorer rating in 70 appearances. The attacker played for Tingsryds last season (59 games/39 points).

"Kearney is a very experienced player who is particularly strong on the power play. He goes where it hurts and perhaps we were missing a player like that last season," said coach Tom Pokel about the new addition. Incidentally, Denny Kearney is the younger brother of moguls specialist Hannah Kearney, who became Olympic champion in Vancouver in 2010 and won bronze in Sochi four years later. Hannah Kearney also won the world title three times in her career.

Knoll also wants to keep Saviano and Pollastrone

But HCB Südtirol Alperia didn't just bring in a new player. The White-Reds extended the game with two top performers, namely Nick Palmieri and captain Alexander Egger. "The negotiation with Alex Egger only lasted a minute. After the coach, I really wanted to keep the captain. I'm very happy that Palmieri is staying because he has integrated very well into our group," emphasized Dieter Knoll.

In the coming days, Knoll also wants to extend the contract with the remaining local players and try to ensure that Pollastrone and Saviano stay. "As far as foreign defenders are concerned, we would like to have three of them in the new season. We will sacrifice a foreign striker for this, but we would like to give the young local players a chance here," continued Knoll.

HCB announces test match program

The focus of the press conference was also the presentation of the new logo under which the Foxes will play in the EBEL in the future. HCB Südtirol Alperia is contesting the cross-border championship for the fourth time this year. In the first season (2013/14) HC Bozen won the championship.

In the first weeks of August, HCB Südtirol will begin preparing for the season. Various test matches are already planned. So it's supposed to go to Garmisch on August 20th and 21st, where a tournament will be played against SC Riessersee, a DEL club and an NLA club. Two test matches against DEL club ERC Ingolstadt are planned for August 26th and 28th. The latter should take place in the ice wave. Riessersee will also be a guest at the Bolzano ice hockey temple on September 4th. The Alperia Cup will take place from September 9th to 11th, in which HCB Südtirol, Rittner Buam and HC Pustertal will also take part.
