The Foxes start the 2015/16 season with an away game

Just a few hours after HC Bozen confirmed its participation, all game dates for the 2015/16 EBEL season have already been set. The 2014 champions will make their debut in Graz on Friday, September 11th, before the first home game against last year's quarter-final opponents Linz two days later.

The start times in the ice wave

As has been usual in previous years, the HCB has chosen a different time for its home games than its EBEL competitors. The matches in the ice wave start at 19.45 p.m. on weekdays, while the Foxes have their games scheduled at 18.45 p.m. on weekends and public holidays.

The championship formula

In total, ice hockey fans can look forward to 324 games in the basic season alone. In phase one (September 11th - January 17th), each of the twelve teams plays 44 games before the tried and tested intermediate round (pick round and qualification round) begins on January 22nd (until February 23rd), with another ten matches per team contains.

The playoffs, for which the best eight teams qualify, will be held in a best-of-seven series and start on February 26th, with the champions being crowned on April 14th at the latest.

New points rule

What's new for the coming season is that the three-point rule will come into force from now on. For a win after regular playing time, the teams receive three points instead of the previous two; a win in overtime or in the penalty shootout counts as two points. A defeat in overtime or a shootout is still worth one point.

The Erste Bank Ice Hockey League announced the schedule for the upcoming season on Wednesday afternoon. This begins on September 11th and ends on April 14th at the latest with the championship celebration.
