The Foxes lose to the leaders

The Foxes started furiously and had two chances with one man more, but Pope was unable to take advantage of them. The rest of the starting third was balanced and relatively uneventful until the 17th minute. Then it happened in quick succession. First it was Nick Palmieri who gave the guests from Bolzano the lead with his first goal. 18 seconds later, Daniel Oberkofler equalized, surprising Hübl with his shot. 97 seconds before the end of the first period, Da Silva shot the home team into the lead. Shortly before the siren, Hübl made a desperate save, so Linz remained one goal ahead.

The second period began with a 2+2 minute penalty for Dan DaSilva for holding and unsportsmanlike conduct. The power play remained goalless, but when Linz was complete again, Marco Insam played past a defender and scored the equalizer. In the 35th minute, after preparatory work by the outstanding Ulmer and Oberkofler, Fechtig restored the home team's lead with a blast from the blue line. The Foxes then pushed for an equalizer, but Ouzas had something against it.

The first eight minutes of the game in the final third passed without much emotion until ex-Bolzano player Piche secured a preliminary decision for the Black Wings with his fourth goal. The Pokel team increased the pressure, but Ouzas was an insurmountable hurdle. Shortly before the final siren, Pokel took his goalie Hübl off the ice and the Foxes threw everything forward - but the goal was scored by Latendresse, who sank the puck into the empty net.

The Foxes lose to the leaders

The 28th round took place in the EBEL on Sunday. The HCB Südtirol had to admit defeat to the EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz with 2:5. The Upper Austrians lead the rankings in the cross-border championship, with Bolzano in seventh place.
