The Foxes beat up Villach

After the win against Dornbirn, which moved the Foxes to third-to-last place, the HCB in Villach improved. In the end there was a 5-1 win. This means the Foxes remain in tenth place in the table, but shorten the gap to seventh place to two points.

Strong start from Bolzano

The people of Bolzano started well and took control of the game in Villach from the start. After a first shorthanded game was overcome well (Halmo had received a two-minute penalty for holding), Chris DeSousa took the lead after eight minutes. Left completely alone, DeSousa was able to run towards Herzog from the blue line and gave the Villach goalie no chance - 1-0 for the HCB.

As a result, the people of Bolzano let up a bit and the game petered out. The equalizer came three minutes before the end of the first period. Labrecque set up for Verlic and he drove the puck past Pekka Tuokkola into the net (17th). Bolzano reacted promptly and Villach played into the Foxes' hands. Maxa had to go to the penalty box, Mike Halmo scored in the power play seconds before the third break to take the lead again (20th).

HCB flexes its muscles

In the second third there was a different picture. Villach had nothing more to report. Instead, the Foxes came up big. First Halmo scored a brace (24'), three minutes later Domenic Monardo scored to make it 4-1. Until this point, Villach had no chance in the second third. Saraurer had the biggest chance for the Carinthians. After he had already outplayed Tuokkola, he was blocked at the last moment (36th). The HCB reacted humorlessly. After a quick attack, DanielGlira pulled away – 5:1.

In the final third the Foxes took things much more calmly. Villach was left with the puck, but VSV was hardly dangerous. Bozen, on the other hand, managed cleverly and put pinpricks, as in the 52nd minute when Herzog reacted outstandingly. In the end it was a 5-1 away win for the HCB. While Bolzano is still on an upward trend, Villach is deep in crisis.
