The Foxes' next reinforcement comes from Sweden

RobinGartner (179 cm x 83 kg) is a very agile defender who moves all over the ice and is an excellent skater. His strengths include positional play, the accuracy of his passes and disc distribution, and he also knows European ice hockey like the back of his hand. He is a determined, concrete and courageous player who finishes the checks and is not easily outplayed by the opposing players.

The new white and red player began his career in the youth teams of HV71 and made his first team debut in the highest Swedish league at the age of 17. In the same year, another young player made his debut in the ranks of HV71, who also played in the white and red kit: NHL crack Niklas Hjalmarsson. The NHL was denied to Gartner, but he played in Allsvenskan for several years in the ranks of IK Oskarshamn, Mora IK and most recently at Örebro. With this team he returned to the SHL in the 2013/14 season. In the following years he also played in the Swedish first league, first with Leksands and for two seasons with Karlskrona HK. In total, Gartner played 300 games in Allsvenskan, where he scored 100 points (24 goals and 76 assists), and 209 games in the SHL with a yield of 39 points (6+33). The new adventure with Bolzano is the 28-year-old's first outside of Scandinavia.

“I have always wanted to play outside of Sweden to get to know other hockey realities and cultures,” these were Gartner’s first words as a white-red player, “the career in my home country was fantastic. But when I had my first contacts with Bolzano, it soon became clear to me that I wanted to go there: I expect the EBEL to offer hockey at a fast pace and with many top players. It will be very entertaining. I know that Bolzano has a long tradition and won the EBEL at the first attempt. I want to win again”. Finally, a message to the fans: “Prepare for a great season together, I heard that you are fantastic and support the team 100% in every game: I can't wait to be able to play in front of you”.

“Robin comes from the SHL, one of the strongest leagues in the world,” explains coach Pat Curcio, “he is a very strong defender and good skater. He has a great overview of the game and a strong urge to move forward. He will give our team a decisive boost and I am convinced that he can keep up with the best players in the EBEL. We are happy to have a player of his caliber in our ranks."
