The new ice hockey season was officially presented

On Thursday, September 15th, the curtain was raised on the 2011/2012 Italian ice hockey season at the CONI headquarters in Milan. The innovations for the upcoming season in the two highest divisions were met with great interest by club officials and media representatives.

The presentation was carried out by FISG President Giancarlo Bolognini, the President of the LIHG Nilo Riva, FISG Vice-President Mario Lievore, as well as the Secretary General of the FISG Alberto Berto and the ice hockey manager in the Italian Ice Sports Association Karl Linter. Bolognini first took the floor, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming season and expecting an upswing for the Italian national team through the sporting development in the two highest Italian ice hockey leagues. According to Bolognini, they will do everything they can to stay in the league at the A-WM next year.

Bolognini was followed by Karl Linter at the lectern. He referred to the new game mode and presented the program of the Italian national teams.

Nilo Riva, on the other hand, discussed the activities and objectives of the “Lega” (LIHG), which essentially differ little from those of the Italian Ice Sports Association. “Our goal is to further advance the sport of ice hockey and make it more professional,” said Riva. However, he admitted that in economically difficult times like these it is difficult to get sponsors and donors interested in ice hockey. According to the LIHG chairman, a positive signal is the collaboration with the TV station Rai Sport, which is bearing fruit and will be intensified in the future.

Finally, Nilo Riva pointed out the increased attractiveness of the two ice hockey leagues, which are enriched by the participation of Vipiteno (Series A) and Pergine (Series A2).

The presentation of the 78th Serie A season, the upcoming season in Serie A2, as well as numerous other ice hockey events for the 2011/12 winter season took place in Milan on Thursday.
