The Pirates grab the last Italian Cup ticket

WSV Vipiteno – HC Pustertal

The Broncos have a bitter pill to swallow despite their hard-fought derby win against Wolves. Due to the direct duels with their neighbors in the table, the Wipptalers are denied qualification for the Italian Cup. The much celebrated 1-0 winning goal by Gunnar Braito in the 48th minute is primarily important for the prestige and morale of the Vipiteno team.

HC Eppan – HC Neumarkt

Meanwhile, in Überetsch there are two reasons to be happy. On the one hand, the HCE players are celebrating the 5:3 win against local rivals Neumarkt, and on the other hand, they have secured their ticket to the cup quarter-finals. However, the Wild Goose made life difficult for the pirates for a long time. They made up for a two-goal deficit at the start of the third period and made it 2-2 before Eppan tightened the reins again. In the end, the double goal scorers Marc-Olivier Vallerand and Daniel Peruzzo were mainly responsible for the home win.

Ritten Sport – SV Kaltern

Anyone who predicted a clear affair in the duel between the first and the bottom of the table was far wrong, because the Buam had more trouble with Kaltern than they could have expected. Although the home team temporarily took a three-goal lead, the Hechte came back to 3:4 and ensured an exciting final phase. In the end, however, the Rittner defense held tight.

HC Gherdeina - SG Cortina

The HCG ironed out the slip-up in Neumarkt with a 2-1 home win against Cortina. The Ladins were driven primarily by Daniele Veggiato. The former Alleghe player, for whom the match definitely had a derby character, was in top form and decided the game in favor of the home team with a brace. Peter Wunderer's goal wasn't enough for Cortina.

In the other two games, Milan struggled to win against Fassa and Valpellice swept Asiago off the ice 6-0.

The Pirates grab the last Italian Cup ticket

At the end of the first half of Serie A, three South Tyrolean teams fought for a place in the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup. Neumarkt and Vipiteno came away empty-handed. Even a win against HC Pustertal wasn't enough for the Broncos.
