The Rittner Buam can still win at home – 6:2

The Rittner Buam started more aggressively in front of their fans than they had played in the initial phase in Bruneck on Saturday and also survived a power play, one of the Wolves' weapons in this final series, unscathed. However, the guests still scored the first goal of the evening. DeVergilio grabbed the disc, passed it to the free-standing Oberrauch and he hammered the disc under the crossbar (9th). The 1-0 was Max Oberrauch's ninth playoff goal and a perfectly completed counterattack.

Ritten was immediately allowed to play with one more man, but the home team couldn't have more than a good blueliner from Borgatello. In the 12th minute, Julian Kostner had to stop Scandella, who was rushing towards the goal, with a foul after Ceresa carelessly messed up the goal. However, the ensuing powerplay had no consequences for Ritten. The Pusterers then received two time penalties: first Scandella had to come off the ice, then DeVergilio. Ritten was therefore allowed to operate with two more men for 63 seconds - and took advantage of this advantage in an ice-cold manner. First, Cook equalized by hitting the short corner over Weiman's shoulder (18.13). And the celebration of the equalizer hadn't even died down when Tudin even made it 2-1 eleven seconds later. After a shot from Cook, Ritten's number 19 was there for the rebound.

But the starting third had something exciting, because with 51 seconds left, Malyan received a 2+10 minute penalty. As a result, the middle third began for the HCP with one man less on the ice for more than a minute. The Wolves survived the outnumbered situation unscathed and subsequently tried very hard to equalize, but still conceded their third goal. After Van Guilder's no-look pass, Cook had no trouble putting the puck into the net.

Wolves too harmless in the power play

As a result, there were three power plays for the yellow-blacks, but they did not convert them into a goal. Engelage particularly stood out on a blueliner from Bouchard (30th) and was also at his post when DeVergilio finished (35th). Two minutes before the end of the middle third, Kostner and Cook could have made it 4-1 from very close range, but Weiman went above and beyond on two occasions. After 40 minutes it was still 3-1 for the home team.

In the final third, Ritten made everything clear. First Julian Kostner scored to make it 4-1 (48th), before just 70 seconds later Van Guilder directed Ansoldi's shot into the net to make it 5-1. That meant the match was decided. Scelfo then got on the scoresheet for Ritten, using an exemplary assist from Thomas Spinell. The last goal of the evening was scored by an HCP player, namely Kavanagh, who caught Engelage between the leg pads to make the final score 6-2 (59').

Game six of the final series takes place on Thursday evening in Brunico. The Rittner Buam can make everything clear with an away win. If the Wolves win, then there will be the all-important game seven on Saturday in Klobenstein.
