The Rittner Buam set themselves high goals

The President of Ritten Sport, Thomas Rottensteiner, presented the new team on Thursday at a press conference at the Parkhotel Holzner in Oberbozen. The new coach Riku Lehtonen, sports director Adolf Insam, numerous players and representatives of the ice hockey association were present. “We have worked incredibly successfully in recent years. “This trend should continue,” says Rottensteiner, who also sets out a clear goal: “We were in the final twice recently. That should also be the minimum goal in the coming season.”

In order to win the championship title again after 2014, the club officials left no stone unturned and made numerous personnel changes. Starting with Insam, whose main task was to put together the new squad of players. “I primarily looked at the players’ character traits and then at their statistics. According to these criteria, we have formed a team that has what it takes to meet the demands of the club's top team." A key role will be played by the new transfer card players, which Insam describes as follows: "Goalkeeper Andrea Engelage already has European experience in Norway collected, defender Brad Cole has proven his class in the EBEL. Offensive powerhouse Brendan Cook was able to impress in the DEL2 for three years, while Mark Van Guilder joined us straight from the AHL. We also have high hopes for Ceresa, Ebner and Waldner.” With Lehtonen, however, Insam has brought “an old confidant into the coaching bench who will make a decisive contribution to success.”

Competitive debut on September 17th

The newly formed Rittner team completed an important test run on Friday and Saturday at the four-man tournament in Klobenstein against Rosenheim, Villach and Fishtown. The semi-finals will take place tomorrow at 16 and 19.30 p.m. The game for third place and the grand final will take place at the same times on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Buam will have their first official appearance on September 17th at the Supercup in Asiago. The season opener in Serie A takes place two days later.
