The sensation is perfect. Third place in the Master Round, Cortina, eliminated the winner of the Master Round, Ritten Sport, in the playoff quarterfinals. Right at the beginning, Gron and Ramsay had a little “battle” and were allowed into the “cooler”. Ritten had the first big chance shortly afterwards. Domenico Perna worked for the goal, but from close range he shot the puck well over the goal guarded by Levasseur. However, Cortina immediately counterattacked, but De Bettin failed with the advantage (Hafner was in the penalty box). After 7.07:27 minutes the home team took the lead. Lorenz Daccordo started a counterattack and served Dan Tudin ideally, who had no trouble getting the puck into the visitors' box. Cortina shocked about that? Absolutely not! Just XNUMX seconds later, Derek Edwardson equalized after being set up by Felicetti. The equalizer inspired the guests, and Ritten struggled as a result, appeared disorganized and lost a lot of targets. But the hosts still had the better chances, missing three top-class players in Scelfo, Jacina and Tudin.

In the first few minutes of the second half of the game, the Rittners' thoughts were probably still in the locker room. Derek Edwardson first increased the lead to 2-1 (21.48) with a precise shot into the top corner, before Ryan Dingle was there just 50 seconds later. The attacker gave Pogge the loss for the third time. A bitter setback for Ritten, but in keeping with how the game went. The first lines largely neutralized each other. At Cortina, Stanislav Gron delivered a strong performance and motivated his men. Ritten seemed out of ideas, but out of nowhere the home team scored in the most difficult phase of the match. Menardi and Zanatta had to go to the penalty box and with two more players on the ice, Ryan Ramsay shortened the gap with a powerful shot that gave Levasseur the advantage. The final third also had a lot to offer. Ritten threw everything forward and made one attack after another. Klaus Ploner, Ingemar Gruber and Domenico Perna tried to overcome Levasseur, but the Cortina goalie was on the post. The Ampezzanians defended cleverly and struck coldly at the crucial moment. After 51.09 minutes, Bowman pulled away from the blue line and hit the top corner with pinpoint accuracy. Just 31 seconds later, Dingle increased the score to 5-2 after wonderful work from Felicetti. With Cortina's second double strike of the evening in less than 60 seconds, the die was cast. The morale speaks for the South Tyrolean club, because despite the three-goal deficit, Ritten didn't give up. Five and a half minutes before the end, TJ Kemp managed to make it 3:5, but the subsequent wave of attacks remained unsuccessful. In the final minutes, Ritten took Pogge off the ice, but nothing changed in the score. Thanks to the 4-3 win, Cortina prevails in the series and moves into the last four. For Ritten, however, the season is over.
